Special Response Team

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is the law enforcement component of the county’s Homeland Security Department and is the county’s First Responder to all Homeland Security related critical incidents. The Sheriff’s Special Response Team (SRT) is made up of officers who are specially trained to handle the most difficult and potentially dangerous situations, such as hostage scenarios, barricaded gunmen, high-risk drug house search warrants, dynamic entry and a number of potential Homeland Security issues. With Wayne County being on an international waterway, the SRT is also cross trained with the Marine Division if the officers are needed to make landfall from a watercraft.
